Education Beyond Boundaries
The community, educators from other schools, and the general public are invited to South Putnam Middle and High School on Wednesday, February 27th from 6:00 to 8:00 to Education Beyond Boundaries. This important evening is a student-centered event showcasing creative and innovative 21st Century educational practices and partnerships at South Putnam featuring renowned Finnish educational expert, Petteri Elo! He has an extensive career in teaching, training and hands-on pedagogical and curriculum development work. Prior to Elo’s talk, guests will attend short sessions organized by South Putnam students, instructors, and other partner organizations such as EF Educational Tours. The sessions will showcase innovative instructional practices and activities, beneficial partnerships with outside organizations, and opportunities for hands-on demonstrations of 21st Century education in action!

1994 Sectional Champs Recognition Night
South Putnam is welcoming back the 1994 Boys' Basketball Sectional Championship team on Friday, February 22nd to be honored during halftime of the boys' varsity game. The 16-7 Eagles were also Putnam County Tourney champions that year. Players on the team included Kenny Wells, Brian Gardner, Ed Chew, Justin Anderson, Paul Bottorff, Wes Ripperger, Mike Rossok, Brice Hill and Todd Carter. Players Casey Carter, Wayne Smith and TJ Smith also dressed for the Sectional. Manager Dan Cash and Athletic Director Jim Hunter are also pictured. The 1994 championship was one of three Sectional Championships for Coach Kieth Puckett who coached for 10 years (averaging 14 wins per season) and went on to serve as the school's athletic director and then principal. Puckett was joined by coaches Carl Coons, Steve Blaydes, Dale Mendenhall and Dan Puckett. We invite everyone out to celebrate with these players and coaches in recognition of their championship 25 years ago.

2018 Senior Seminar Presenter Pam Lage
2018 Fall Senior Seminar
South Putnam seniors participated in the first annual Fall Senior Seminar on Friday, September 21st. Community Liaison Karen Nelson Heavin organized the event during which community members spoke with seniors about scholarships, college applications, interviewing, personal finance, job applications, unions and apprenticeships. Teachers Credit Union generously sponsored professional portfolios for all South Putnam seniors.

Book Donation
Dr. Pamela Farris Book Donation
Former South Putnam Title 1 teacher and current author Dr. Pamela Farris donated over $15,000 of newly published children's books to Central Elementary and Fillmore Elementary for classroom use. Always a promoter of having students read quality children’s and young adult books, Pam has served as Midwest chair for the International Reading Association’s Children’s Choices and Teacher’s Choices project for ten years.

Lilly Counseling Grant
South Putnam Community School Corporation was one of the recipients of the second round of the Lilly Counseling Grant. South Putnam is using the total $112,000 award over four years to fund programs and tools to improve student college and career readiness, provide after-school tutoring, and bring in additional anti-bullying curriculum. The grant also makes possible a Community Liaison to coordinate with local buisness leaders to help secure student internships and job experiences. Additionally, a Future Focused Coordinator, also funded through the grant, will work with students to build employability skills through project-based, work-based and service-based experiences.

Robotics April Competition Picture
Robotics April Competition
On April 28th South Putnam Robotics was hosted by Scecina Robotics in Indianapolis. This scrimmage was designed for the two teams to showcase their skills with VeX robotics, and test new concepts. South Putnam won the competition 5-2 with substantial victories in several matches.
