Corporation Portrait: 

 

     Our school corporation, located in south-central Putnam County, is a rural area with only a few small businesses and industries. The corporation covers an area of 163 square miles and is crossed by Interstate 70 and US Highway 40 to the east and west, and US Highway 231 to the north and south.

     South Putnam has approximately 1,150 students in Kindergarten through grade 12 divided among three buildings including South Putnam Junior-Senior High School, Central Elementary School covering Jefferson, Warren and Washington townships, and Fillmore Elementary School in Marion township. 198 full and part-time staff members consisting of 87 certified and 111 non-certified personnel are employed in the schools. Our certified staff are highly trained and experienced with 61% holding masters degrees or higher, and an average experience level of 18 years.
