It is Pajama Day!







Thank you to Karen Heavin and all of our community partners for making our Senior Seminar on Thursday a success! Dalton Smith and Sarah Bright from North Salem State Bank, Dean Gambill from the Putnam County Foundation, Isabel Strong from ISU, Jason Fisher from Operators Union of Terre Haute, Amber Wallace from Knitwell Group, Sgt. Frank Gardner from the Indiana National Guard and Megan Taylor of Cummins Mental Health shared their expertise in areas such as personal finance, workplace ethics, apprenticeships, college admissions and scholarships, military careers, managing academic stress and more. This annual event organized by Karen Heavin in coordination with our guidance department provides valuable and timely information to our seniors as they prepare for their next steps.











Thank you to our cheerleaders Friday night for supporting the youth cheerleaders and also for raising money for the fight against childhood cancers!




Last week our seniors took their Senior Trip to St. Louis. It was a fun day at the zoo, the ballpark and the arch!

It is Homecoming Week, and today's dress-up day is age day. We have some sudden senior citizens in the hallway this morning!


Meet our Homecoming candidates! Seniors include Alyssa Pingleton, Makenzie Moy, Lilah Holderfield, Layla Mullin, Jeremy Sutherlin, Khalil Jefferson, Landon Chew and Hunter Weddle. The Homecoming ceremony will take place at halftime during our football game Friday night when the Eagles take on the West Vigo Vikings.



Congratulations to Gunner Roach, Elise Kendall and Elizabeth Dobson. They are semifinalists for the Putnam County Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship. They started their day today completing a supervised, in-person essay as they work to qualify for the next round. Being a semifinalist is a rare honor and signifies their exceptional academic achievement and potential as they continue their education after high school.

The Fall Concert will be held on Tuesday, September 30th, at 6:30 pm in the cafeteria. The show entitled Farewell at Dawn will feature the 7th Grade Band, the 8th Grade Band, the Middle School Jazz Band, and the Concert Band.


We continue to celebrate college opportunities this week with dress-up days, virtual campus tours showing during lunch and a mascot scavenger hunt. Mr. Pruitt is also working on college-themed trivia for Friday!











Congratulations to Kade Winslow for his internship at the Greencastle Fire Department as part of his Fire and Rescue class capstone at Area 30! Kade's previous training has prepared him for this opportunity. He has already been able to go out on runs and appreciates the experience he is gaining. He plans to pursue firefighting as a career.


We got an early start on College Go Week! With Homecoming next week, we want to make sure we have plenty of time to talk about and celebrate college opportunities for students. Today was College Gear Day for our dress up day. Tomorrow is College Sports Team Day.











The South Putnam Leo Club led by Mrs. Lyssa McKee did a great job constructing an Eagle scarecrow for Cloverdale's Main Street decorating contest! Thank you to the Cloverdale Lions Club for sponsoring us for the event. As Mrs. McKee said, "The eagle has landed!"


We are pleased to welcome Grace Burdge this year as an instructional aide at South Putnam Middle and High School. Ms. Burdge helps students in a variety of classes. She also leads our volleyball program. The JV and Varsity teams will compete in County tomorrow at North Putnam.


We are please to welcome Cory Tinsley as a new math teacher this year at South Putnam Middle and High School. Mr. Tinsley teaches high school math particularly focused on geometry. He also coaches in our middle school baseball program.


Last night was Senior Night for the South Putnam Girls Golf Team. Senior Bella Fanning is shown hitting par on hole 18 at Oak Ridge golf course! The girls play Sectionals on Friday, Sept. 19th at Forest Park.
